There are tons of gadgets in the world now and there are more and more new. Some people don’t really follow the news related to gadgets and don’t use any of them but on the other side there are people that are gadget addicts and are buying as many as they can afford. Her is a list of gadgets that were popular in 2013:

1. Google Chromecast is a thumb-sized gizmo that after plugging it into one of your TV’s HDMI ports, you can fling videos and other content from your laptop, tablet or phone to the big screen. There are no wires involved.

2. Oculus Rift Development Kit. This kit aimed at the game developers. It is very addictive once you strap on this virtual-reality headset onto your noggin and experience it in action.

3. Pebble Smartwatch. This wearable gizmo acts as a satellite for your iPhone or Android handset, receiving snippets such as text-message notifications via Bluetooth and displaying them on its power-efficient E Ink display. Third-party developers can write programs to let it do everything from playing games to tracking your fitness. And of course it tells time.

4. Leap Motion Controller is pint-sized USB accessory for Windows PCs and Macs. It is an $80 preview of where man-machine interfaces may be head. Plug it and you can perform different task, from playing games to reading a newspaper by waving your hands in the air. The technology is also being built into laptops, starting with HP’s Envy17 Leap Motion SE.

Worst gadgets

Yes, gadgets are supposed to be useful and help us in something, but not all of them are good and useful. Some are just stupid and that’s why we are going to classify them as the worst gadgets ever. Here is a list of some of the worst gadgets:

1. Pizza scissors – A nightmare to wash, the hybrid of spatula/scissor complicated the simple business of cutting a slice of pizza. Failed to catch on.

2. BBQ Donut – Ever wanted to grill some kielbasa on a sophisticated inner tube under an umbrella out in the middle of the water? Me neither.

3. CTA Digital iPotty – Kids already have a hard enough time shooting straight, if you catch our drift. So how does a digital toilet with an attached iPad make for a more efficient toilet-training method? It doesn’t really right?

4. iPod Toilet Speaker

5. Foot Tanner – For $230, one would expect the full-body tan treatment. Bronzing your feet at the beach comes at a much cheaper price.

Three technology breakthrough products in 2013

The year 2013 is done but it brought lots of technology innovations that will help us in the next years. Innovations led by education and knowledge make our lives easier. Here are some breakthrough products that marked the previous year:

1. Pebble watch. Pebble smartwatch introduced many people to the benefits of wearable technology. The Pebble’s e-paper display links to a smartphone via Bluetooth, allowing users to control their music, view text messages or tweets, and screen calls. And thanks to a software development kit, programmers can create apps to run on the watch. With just a twist of the wrist, a user gets a quick and stealthy peek at the wider world. Well also you have to pay around $150 as-well.

2. Seiki 50-Inch 4K TV. I am sure most of you have never heard of Seiki. Well it is a television company that offers a 4K TV for $1300! Major electronics manufacturers were planning to introduce similar-size ultra-HD (3840×2160) sets at prices around $5000 but Seiki beat them with no-frills TV that has no Internet connectivity and no 3D , just super –HD at a good price.

3. Thalmic Labs MYO. It turns human motion into digital control. However, the MYO is not confined to a room or a desktop. The bracelet uses a variety of motion-tracking sensors to measure the position and orientation of a user’s arm in space. It senses the electrical activity of muscles that corresponds to finger movements, allowing for complex gesture controls such as pinch, point and grasp.

USB 3.0 vs. USB 2.0

Everyone is familiar with USB (Universal Serial Bus) and the benefits from it.

USB 3.0, the latest version of USB (Universal Serial Bus), provides better speed and more efficient power management than USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices; however, data transfer speeds are limited to USB 2.0 levels when these devices inter-operate.

USB 3.0 is capable of transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps (gigabits per second); that’s a little over 10 times faster than USB 2.0’s 480Mbps (1,000Mbps equals 1Gbps). In practice, it won’t always be this much faster — mileage may vary depending on hardware configuration — but it will always be much faster than USB 2.0

USB 3.0 is more expensive than USB 2.0. Of course this is expected, but if you need it for something simple, then there is no need to spend more money and buy the USB 3.0

The standard-B connectors are smaller in size for USB 2.0but it takes extra space in USB 3.0 for more wires.

USB 3.0 also consumes 400 mA power than USB 2.0 which is also expected since it is capable of transfer speeds 10 times faster.

No matter which USB device, both of them are easy to install and easy to use. But as I said before, if you need it for a small project, then use the USB 2.0 since it’s cheaper and it consumes less power.

Automobile Lamborghini S.p.A. is an Italian brand and manufacturer of luxury sports cars. It is owned by the Volkswagen Group through its subsidiary brand division Audi. I believe everybody have heard about this brand and many people dream about having a Lamborghini. Unfortunately they are very expensive and not many people can afford owning one.

Ferruccio Lamborghini founded this company in 1963 with the objective of producing a refined grand touring car to compete with offerings from established marques such as Ferrari. It grew rapidly during the first decade but sales plunged in the wake of the worldwide financial downturn and the oil crises. The ownership changed three times after 1973 and it includes bankruptcy in 1978.

Automobile Lamborghini S.p.A. controls Volkswagen group Italia S.p.A., MML S.p.A, Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., Italdesign Guidaro S.p.A.

Through its history it envisioned and presented variety of concept cars. Beginning in 1963 with 350GTV – the very first Lamborghini prototype. It had many famous muddles such as 1974 Bravo, 1980 Athon and many others.

The ost important markets in 2004 for Lamborghini’s sports cars are the United States with 41% of the total sales. Next is Germany with 13%, then Great Britain with 9% and Japan with 8%. Prior to the launch of the Gallardo in 2003, Lamborghini produced approximately 400 vehicles per year; in 2011 Lamborghini produced 1,711 vehicles.

Porsche Automobil Holding SE orshort as Porsche is a German holding with investments in automotive industry. This company is headquartered in Zuffenhausen which is a city district in Stuttgart and is owned by the Piech and Porsche families. It was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche.

One of the first assignments this company received was from the government to design a car for the people that is a “Volkswagen”. This resulted in one of the most successful car designs of all time – Volkswagen Beetle. During World War II Volkswagen production turned to the military version of Volkswagen Beetle. Porsche produced several designs for heavy tanks but they lost to Henschel & Son in both contracts which led to the Tiger I and Tiger II. After the war, in 1945, Ferdinand lost his position as Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen and instead of him, Ivan Hrist was put in charge of the factory. He was a British Army Major. The relationship between Porsche and Volkswagen was always close and on 5th July 2012, Volkswagen AG announced a deal with Porsche resulting in Volkswagen’s full ownership n 1st August the same year. Volkswagen AG paid Porsche shareholders 5.61 bilion for the remaining 50.1% it did not own. This deal was classified as restructuring and not as take over which is not allowed.

Their logo was based on the coat of arms of the Free People’s state of Wurttemberg of Weimar Germany, which had Stuttgart as capital city.

Hiking Necessities

I love being outdoors but as much as I want to indulge in activities like hiking and camping, my busy schedule does not give me a lot of time to do so. But whenever I do have time, I try to enjoy these activities to the fullest. Hiking is something that I enjoy because it has many health benefits such as improved cardio-respiratory and muscular fitness, increased bone density or a slower loss of density, reduced depression, better quality of sleep, and weight control among others. Furthermore, I get to enjoy the beauty of nature.

There are plenty of places around the world where you can do this activity but hiking in Australia remains to be on top of my list. It has some grand walking trails like Heysen Trail, Victoria’s Wilsons Promontory, Bibbulmun Track, and Larapinta Trail across the Northern Territory’s West MacDonnell Ranges where you can do day walks, short scenic sections or pace end-to-end on trips that take weeks or months to finish.

Naturally you will need to wear the right clothes and shoes and have appropriate gear on your hiking trip. The essentials however, do not need to be expensive to be trail-worthy. But it would be great if they are functional, comfortable, and fashionable. Wear synthetic T-shirts, shorts, wool sweater, waterproof / wind-proof rain / wind jackets, hiking or rain pants, and hiking specific socks. As for footwear, hiking boots are the way to go. Your backpack needs to be big enough to carry your food, water, extra clothes and other necessities (map and compass, firestarter and matches, multi-tool or knife, first aid kit, flashlight or headlamp and extra batteries, sunscreen and sunglasses) comfortably.

Nowadays, we see a lot of online stores selling sportswear and outdoor clothing at affordable prices. One of them is The Clymb which offers discounts of up to 70% off retail on the best hiking gear by the most premium brands. Here you will find men and women’s apparel, hiking shoes, packs, poles, and a lot more from brands like Adidas, Timberland, Teko, Keen, Hanwag, Merrell Footwear, Columbia, Ecco etc. I happen to be interested in the Men’s Terrex Fast X Mid GTX from Adidas which is great for quick hikes. Some of its features are TRAXION outsole built with Continental Rubber for extraordinary grip on slick surfaces, FORMOTION in the heel which enhances control, and protective synthetic-and-mesh upper lined in waterproof breathable GORE-TEX.

Smart technologies are getting more and more involved in our lives. Starting from smart phones, to smart cars, smart TV even smart toothbrush! If there was only a product that could make Smart people that would be great and it would probably sell more than all these other smart products together. Unfortunately there is not. Smart is short for Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation.

Popular Smart products:

1. Smart phone. Definitely first on the list. It has a lot of features and that is why it is the most popular smart product

2. Smart TV. It is sometimes referred to as connected TV or hybrid TV. It describes a trend of integration of the Internet and Web 2.0 features into television sets and set-top boxes, as well as the technological convergence between computers and television sets and set-top boxes.

3. Smart car. The design concept for smart cars began in the late 1980s. After a period of backing by Volkswagen, the first model was finally launched by in October 1998. Several variants on the original design have been introduced, with the original design, called the Fortwo, now in its second generation and available as an electric version.

4. Smart bike. Have you ever wondered how smart a bike could be? The smart bike is also known as e-bike. You can charge it and travel 100 kilometers with one battery charge! There is a holder for your smart phone as well, so if you have a map on your phone to follow, you can put it there and it makes it easier.
